  • WE Connect Health Care Enrollment & Resource Fair – Saturday, November 19, 2011, 10:00 am until 4:00 pm, SCUSD Enrollment Center, 5601 47th Avenue, Sacramento, CA. Health care enrollment, money saving programs & services including CalFresh and discount utility services. Please bring these documents: • Proof of income (recent paycheck stub, 2010 tax forms, employer letter, affidavit, etc.) • Proof of residency (i.e. utility bill) • Child’s birth certificate, social security card or immigration documents (if applicable).   • California LifeLine Awareness Fair - Tuesday, September 13, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the City of Citrus Heights Community Center, Community Hall A, 6500 Fountain Square Drive, Citrus Heights, CA. Hosted by the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC). State, federal, and community/service/non-profit agencies will participate by hosting informational booths on a variety of services and programs.   • Homeownership/Foreclosure Prevention and Financial Literacy Workshop - September 24, 2011. Senator Bob Dutton, the City of Rancho Cucamonga and Freddie Mac will conduct a Homeownership/Foreclosure Prevention and Financial Literacy Workshop in Rancho Cucamonga.   • California State Employees Charitable Campaign Statewide Kick-Off - West Steps of State Capitol, August 24, 2011 - 11:00am - 1:00pm. Join guests from the public sector, nonprofit sector and the general public as we come together on the west steps of the State Capitol to rally for the upcoming California State Employees Charitable Campaign. There will be a nonprofit agency fair, live music and photo booth. The event is free to individuals. An optional lunch can be purchased in advance for $8. Event day details.   • It Takes a Village: Community, Health, Wellness, & Resource Fair – June 11, 2011, 11 am – 3 pm, North Sacramento United Methodist Church/Bread of Life, 650 El Camino Avenue, Sacramento, CA. It Takes a Village is a collaboration of organizations bringing community resource awareness to North Sacramento Neighborhoods. This event will focus on providing information and resources about becoming a Foster/Adoptive Parent, Foster Youth aging out of the system, diabetes and blood pressure screenings, community programs for youth and families. DFI representative Alana Golden will provide financial education materials including information on the Bank on Sacramento program for the unbanked.
  • Financial Literacy Workshop for Young Legislators Program – Saturday, June 18, 2011, 10 am to 2 pm, C. Robert Lee Activity Center, Hawaiian Gardens, CA. Hosted by Assemblymember Tony Mendoza. The Young Legislators Program is an innovative program that nurtures young leaders by providing them with a unique opportunity to actively engage in discussions and learn from active business leaders, government officials, and organizations in the community. DFI representative, Daphne Porter will provide information and materials on managing credit, the importance of saving, avoiding debt and other information designed to help youth become informed consumers

  • May 10, 2011 -  22nd Annual PBWC Conference, Moscone Center, San Francisco. DFI will provide information regarding California Financial Literacy Month, inviting businesses and organizations to participate by teaching money management skills. DFI will also distribute materials regarding the Department, licensees and consumer education.

  • Financial Literacy Resource Fair -  The State Controller’s Office will be hosting a financial literacy resource fair for the public on Thursday, April 7th, from 11 am-1pm, State Capitol, North Steps, Sacramento.
  • VITA Super Site for Tax Preparation - April 15, Robbie Waters Pocket/Greenhaven Library, 7335 Gloria Drive, Sacramento, CA, 1 pm to 8 pm. Special one-day free tax preparation event for those earning $49,000 or less. In addition to free tax preparation, free and reduced-cost child care information will be available, children’s activities, free and reduced-cost health insurance for children, discounted utility programs and language assistance in Spanish, Russian, Mandarin, Hmong and Vietnamese will be provided.
