California Community Partnership for the Prevention of Financial
Abuse (CCPPFA) is a coalition of financial institutions,
public and private agencies committed to fighting elder
financial abuse. Be Wise: Preventing Elder Financial Abuse,
a training video produced by the CCPPFA is now available.
The 24-minute video is designed to train financial institution
employees how to recognize and report suspected financial
abuse of elders. It features an introduction by California
State Attorney General Bill Lockyer and includes a reference
booklet to provide employees of financial institutions
with the latest comprehensive information on warning signs
of financial abuse and tips on how to effectively respond.

The Consumer Bankers Association conducts and provides copies of
an annual Survey of Bank-Sponsored Financial Literacy
Programs. The survey documents financial literacy initiatives
spearheaded by banks and their partnerships with schools
and non-profit organizations. In addition to highlighting
programs for students in grades K-12, student tutoring
initiatives and college-based programs, the survey describes
programs in which banks are educating consumers in mortgage/homeownership,
foreclosure prevention, credit counseling, avoiding
predatory lending, and small business development.
