Craig Carlson received the 2010 Senior Fellow Award from the CSBS Education Foundation of State Bank Supervisors in appreciation of his exceptional contributions toward advancing professionalism in the State Banking Regulatory System. The award was presented at the CSBS State-Federal Supervisory Forum, May 18 - 20, 2010 in Boston, MA.

California Department of Financial Institutions Commissioner Bill Haraf joined Bank of the West's employees and CFO, Duke Dayal, and Operation HOPE staff to educate 230 students at Gordon J. Lau Elementary School, located in San Francisco’s Chinatown neighborhood. Students learned the importance of saving on April 27th, ABA’s Teach Children to Save Day.
Teach Children to Save Day - California Department of Financial Institutions Commissioner William S. Haraf joined Bank of the West's CAO Paul Woolway and Operation HOPE in educating 135 students at John Yehall Chin Elementary School in San Francisco. In all, Bank of the West and its non-profit partners helped empower over 800 area youth with financial knowledge.

With the support of several city mayors, bank and credit union officials and state regulators from across California, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger today launched Bank on California, making California the first state in the nation to launch a program designed to help Californians without checking or savings accounts open starter accounts.
