To: All Licensees
From: George Gaborek, DFI Chief Information Officer
The Department of Financial Institutions (DFI), in complying with Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger's Executive Order S-03-10, has migrated its ZixMail e-mail security and encryption solution to the centralized Microsoft Forefront Online Protection.
DFI’s use of Microsoft’s Forefront Online Protection means that we will not be renewing our existing contract with Zix Corporation, set to expire mid-January 2011. Thus, our DFI examination staff will no longer be using the ZixMail product for email security.
By implementing the use of Microsoft’s Forefront Online Protection in lieu of ZixMail, our Licensees will be affected in two ways:
- When you receive Microsoft-encrypted e-mails from DFI your response will be automatically encrypted as well.
- Secure email messages sent to you from DFI will include a link to the secure portal where you can register. After registering with a private password, you will be able to read and reply to the e-mail securely.
You will need to obtain an e-mail encryption service, if you do not have one already, in order to send us an original encrypted e-mail. Unlike Zix, the Microsoft portal does not give you the option of initiating an email to DFI.
Thank you for your understanding.
