DEPARTMENT OF FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS
WILLIAM S. HARAF, Commissioner of Financial Institutionswww.dfi.ca.gov
January 14, 2010
Dear Licensee,
The Department of Financial Institutions, in its ongoing commitment to maintain efficient communications with Licensees, is implementing a new practice to routinely communicate information electronically. This new process will rely on communicating via email to Licensees. To accomplish this, the DFI needs to identify a single, standard email address for each Licensee to receive communications from the DFI. The goal is to promote quick, direct communication to an email account that is monitored daily. The DFI will rely on this email address to disseminate information, such as messages and orders from the Commissioner of Financial Institutions, consumer complaint information, and other pertinent information. Your assistance is needed for implementing this process.
REQUESTED ACTION
To ensure clear and successful communication, please notify DFI of the email address that your institution would like to use for communicating with the DFI. The account should be a separate account that is not tied into an individual name and it should be one that you will be monitoring daily. For your consideration we provide two options:
Option A Establish an email on your computer network designated as the “dfi” email box (for example, dfi@abcbank.comor dfi@xyzcreditunion.org).
Option B Provide the DFI with a generic email address that is not linked to any specific person, such as info@abcbank.com or info@xyzcreditunion.org.
PLEASE RESPOND BY JANUARY 27, 2010 TO: FYI@DFI.CA.GOV.
QUESTIONS: If you have questions, please contact Kristine De Young at 916-324-7488 or by email at kdeyoung@dfi.ca.gov.
