H1N1 Flu (Swine Flu) Information and Preparedness

As of today, April  30, 2009, 8:00 a.m., federal health officials have confirmed 109 H1N1 Flu cases in the United States and 14 in California.

Governor Schwarzenegger declared a State of Emergency in response to the influenza outbreak news that will support and facilitate our state health departments’ response. Proclamation: http://gov.ca.gov/proclamation/12148.

With this information, DFI requests that licensees review their business continuity and disaster preparedness plans including pandemic response plans.

The Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council (FFIEC) issued guidance for use by financial institutions in identifying the continuity planning that should be in place to minimize the potential adverse effects of a pandemic. Please see http://www.ffiec.gov/press/pandemicguidance.pdf.

DFI is monitoring the situation as it develops and will continue to provide updated information to our licensees and employees.

The U.S. government is centralizing its swine flu resources on the CDC Web site,  http://www.cdc.gov/swineflu/.
