Counterfeit cashier's check - First Metropolitan Credit Union

First Metropolitan Credit Union has contacted the Department of Financial Institutions to report that counterfeit cashier's checks have been presented for payment. The counterfeit checks are drawn on First Metropolitan Credit Union's account that is funded through Traveler's Express. The counterfeit cashier's checks have the First Metropolitan account number, but instead of First Metropolitan's routing number have the routing number 096016765.

The counterfeit cashier's checks have no resemblance to genuine First Metropolitan cashier's checks. The counterfeit checks appear to be drawn on Highlands Independent Bank. The remitter is Tony James and the payee is Andrew Sergovich. The check number is 4109899619 and the amount is $8,500.00.
